Process Control Instrumentation, and Automation Equipment

Mechanical, electrical and instrumentation engineering projects require a range of automated process control equipment to measure and monitor flows, levels, pressure, temperature and liquid analysis.

Call us at:

Miller, Hypertherm, DeVilbiss, Extreme, Ronch, etc.

Preventive and corrective maintenance, design of painting plants, etc.

Solutions for different industries.

Specialized articles, eBooks, Videos, etc.

We distribute the equipment, devices and parts needed for the process control instrumentation and automation projects for all the countries of the Americas.

The industries that most commonly use process control equipment are:

  • Energy
  • Manufacturing
  • Oil and Gas
  • Food and Beverage
  • Transportation
  • Wastewater
  • Recycling

The most commonly used instrumentation devices for these engineering projects in the region are:

  • Sensors
  • Transmitters
  • Switches
  • Flow meters
  • Valves

Clearly, there are more parts needed for these systems, in addition to the software that is necessary to configure and manage the entire installation.

We only distribute products from the best manufacturers worldwide. All the brands we represent comply with ASME and ISA (International Society of Automation) standards.

Process control instrumentation and automation Applications

The need for any automated process control installation is to measure and monitor some variables in the elements that are part of the system. These variables are, among others:

  • Level
  • Pressure
  • Flow
  • Temperature
  • Density
  • Viscosity

Sensors

When it comes to process control instrumentation and automation, sensors are devices that detect changes in the physical, electrical or chemical properties of an element and produce an electrical signal in response to that change.

Some properties typically detected by sensors are level, temperature, flow, pressure, velocity and position.

Sensors need to be connected to a network of instrumentation devices so that the signals emitted can be read properly.

Transmitters

Transmitters are devices that convert the information coming from sensors to a standard signal in instrumentation so that it represents a variable that can be measured and controlled.

They are mainly used for four (4) variables, which are: pressure, level, temperature and flow. Transmitters can be connected in a 2-wire or 4-wire configuration.

Switches

There are many types of switches, but in automated process control these are electrical or electromechanical devices that start or stop an action, based on the signal they receive. Switches can only have 2 variables: They are either on or off.

They can be activated by proximity, flow, process, etc. It is an essential device in an automated system, as it starts (or stops) the required action, just at the right time.

Flowmeters

There are several types of flowmeters for use in industrial automation. Depending on the flow to be measured (gas, liquid, etc.) the appropriate flowmeter is determined.

The flowmeters can be magnetic, mechanical, vortex, ultrasonic, etc. The information they obtain is vital for monitoring the entire system.

Valves

A control valve is a device that is used to regulate or manipulate the flow of fluids such as gas, oil, petroleum products, water, steam, etc. They are the most common final control elements used in industrial automation today.

Control valves can be electric, pneumatic or hydraulic. Although they are in very different sections of the plant, when they receive a signal from the system, they partially or totally change the course of the flow.

Software

Every process control instrumentation and automation system must have software, in order to be managed by the operators. Nowadays the available software can even be operated from mobile devices, allowing adjustments to be made to a section of the system in real time.
